What is Kombucha?

What is Kombucha made out of?  It’s actually a pretty simple and natural drink.  Kombucha is made of black tea, sugar, and a fermenting element called a SCOBY (Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast).  Much like yogurt, this SCOBY or probiotics help aide digestion and can conceivably improve your immune system.  The sugar and caffeine from the tea are used up in the fermenting process so the final result contains very little caffeine and sugar.  However, the tiny bit of caffeine is great for a boost of energy.  This, combined with our regular fruits and vegetables, makes a great and healthy afternoon pick-me-up.
