3 Ways to Stay Hydrated this Summer

Summer is here and although our beautiful city by the bay isn't the most swimsuit friendly place, we San Franciscans still know how to enjoy the summer.  We enjoy sunny days at Dolores Park, taking side trips down the coast or planning a vacation to a place where we can actually work on our tan. Regardless of your summer plans, it's important to remember  to keep healthy and hydrated this summer.  Here our a few easy tips to jumpstart a healthy summer.

1) Munch on Fruits and Vegetables
Many fruits and vegetables are water rich and can help in rehydrating your body.  Some of our favorite picks are cucumber (96% water content), watermelon (92% water content), and grapefruit (91% water content).

2) Ditch the Caffeine
Caffeine like coffee, black tea, and soda can severly dehydrate your body.  Instead sip on herbal tea, and sparkling water.

3) Sip on Coconut Water
Coconut water is great for hydration and contains tons of electrolytes to keep your body in blanace. We love it so much, we just had to add it to some of our tastiest smoothies.

While we have over 100 different juices on the menu, we are especially proud of our top ten.  Here are some of the nutritious highlights of our customer’s favorite menu items.
1. CUCUMBER- Among the several nutritious ingredients in our GREEN ENERGY juice is cucumber.  Cucumbers have several health benefits including keeping the body hydrated (with over 96% water content).  The high water content, vitamins A, B & C and the presence of certain minerals like magnesium, potassium, and silica make cucumbers an essential part of healthy skin, and the potassium, magnesium and fiber present helps to regulate blood pressure.  (Ingredients Include: spinach, parsley, kale, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon, ginger.)
2. BLUEBERRIES- With a heaping portion of blueberries BERRIES VALENCIA packs a punch of antioxidants which help boost the immune system, aids in reducing belly fat and helps promote urinary tract health.
(Ingredients Include:  blueberries, strawberries, banana, orange juice, marion berry sorbet and ice.)

3. BEETS- Beets have several benefits including helping mental health, cleansing the body of toxins as well as being known as nature’s Viagra.  What’s not to love about APPLE BEET KOMBUCHA JUICE? (Ingredients Include: one whole beet, one apple , kombucha.)
4. MANGOS– The deliciously sweet mangoes found in MANGO BERRY SMOOTHIE are a great source of potassium, vitamin A and have been known to protect against colon, breast, leukemia and prostate cancers. (Ingredients Include: apple juice, strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, mango tangerine sorbet, ice.)
5.CARROTS-  These root vegetables provide a ton of benefits including cancer prevention, anti aging, improved vision, healthy teeth and gums.  Just another reason to drink up some MISSION ELIXIR(Ingredients Include: carrots, celery, apples, beet, ginger, parsley.)

6. SPINACH- GREEN KOMBUCHA JUICE is filled with fresh bundles of spinach containing vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, manganese, zinc and selenium.  Spinach serves as powerful antioxidants that combat the onset of osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and high blood pressure.  In addition, the vitamin K that is present in spinach can prevent excess activation of osteoclasts (the cells that break down bones), as well as promote the synthesis of osteocalcin, the protein that is essential for maintaining the strength and density of our bones. (Ingredients Include: bundles of spinach, kale, parsley, celery, ginger, kombucha.)
7. KALE- Kale is a great anti-inflammatory and is rich in antioxidants, high in vitamin C, calcium, iron, vitamin A, K as well as being super low in calorie and full of fiber. Just another reason to try KALE COLADA SMOOTHIE. (Ingredients Include: fresh organic kale, coconut juice, pineapple, coconut shreds, pineapple sorbet, ice.)
8. PINEAPPLEJJ’S TROPICS JUICE is filled with yummy pineapples which have several health benefits including alleviating the pain of arthritis  strengthening bones, improving digestion, and with all the vitamin A, C, calcium, phosphorus and potassium, it’s no wonder it can prevent coughs and colds. (Ingredients Include: apple, pear, pineapple, carrots.)

9. ALMONDS- Nothing is more delicious and decadent than our ALMOND DELIGHT SMOOTHIE.  Luckily, almonds are loaded with tons of health benefits including developing stronger bones, lowering bad cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart disease, and even helps with weight loss. (Ingredients Include: almond butter, almond milk, banana, and ice.)
